On 5 and 6 of March, ICMPD in Armenia organized a ToT for local trainers working on integration policies and practices for migrants in the communities of Armenia. Experts Patrick Taran from Global Migration Policy Associates and Shannon Pfohman from Caritas Europe introduced latest practices and policies on integration, both at the national level and from municipalities that have taken it on themselves to create a practical welcome to long term immigrants.

The Award Ceremony of «Suitcase 2017», an annual journalistic contest, was held on 15 December in Moscow Cinema in Yerevan. The contest was organized by ICMPD within the framework of the EU-funded project “Support to Migration and Border Management in Armenia” (MIBMA), together with  the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia, RepatArmenia Foundation and «Public Diplomacy» NGO.

On 7 November 2017 ICMPD in Armenia organised a round-table discussion with relevant border management agencies responsible for implementation of the 2017-2021 Integrated Border Management (IBM) Action Plan. The objective of the meeting was to discuss in detail a selected list of activities (17), identify specific needs related to these activities and put together a tentative plan of actions aimed at their implementation where ICMPD-Armenia could provide assistance under the MIBMA project.

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), within the framework of EU-funded «Support to Migration and Border Management in Armenia» project, together with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia, Repat Armenia Foundation and «Public Diplomacy» NGO, is happy to announce «Suitcase 2017» ANNUAL JOURNALISM CONTEST ON MIGRATION AND BORDER MANAGEMENT ISSUES.

On the 8th and 9th of September, ICMPD in Armenia organized the third and last media trip in 2017, this time to the Tavush region.
A selected group of journalists from lragir.am, aysor.am, jam-news.am, the Public Radio of Armenia, newsbook.am, haymedia.am, newspress.am  visited the Vazashen, Choratan, Koghb, Voskepar and Baghanis border villages and met with village elders, village administration, and local population.

As part of the мedia project implemented within the framework of «MIBMA» project, the training for journalists «Migration in Journalism: Advanced Reporting Skills» was organized in Garni on 29 September 2017. The training was delivered by two winners of Migration Media Award in print and video categories, Mr Daniel Trilling and Ms Anna Domanska, as well as Public Information Officer of UNHCR Armenia Ms Anahit Hayrapetyan, who shared their experience in presenting migration stories and discussed best practices.

On 12 September 2017, with the support of the MIBMA project, Arton Capital, a leader in the immigrant-investor industry, presented its investor immigration report on Armenia. The study and development of an immigrant investor program is a part of the program of activities of the RA Government, which commissioned this project to Arton Capital via the State Migration Service. The activity also features in the recently adopted Armenia Migration Action Plan.
