Within the framework of its MIBMA project, ICMPD in Armenia, together with the EU Delegation to Armenia and the Development Foundation of Armenia co-organized the EU-Armenia-Iran Business Forum on 15 September 2017. The forum is organized within the framework of the “Europe in Armenia” EXPO taking place on September 15-17 at the initiative of EU Delegation to Armenia, where 90 companies from various EU countries presented their products and services.
During the Forum ICMPD in Armenia Team Leader Carel Hofstra facilitated a round table discussion on the opportunities and challenges of trade between Armenia and Iran and the role improved border management can play. Discussion evolved around the creation of Meghri free economic zone and the re-construction of the border crossing point with Iran in Meghri, as well as mechanisms to practically address issues faced at the border by traders. After the round table, Armenian companies had the chance to discuss investment projects and export opportunities with the guests from EU and Iran during business-to-business meetings organized during the event.
