On 31 October, ICMPD organised a round table to discuss, fine-tune, and finalize the draft paper on the design of the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) for asylum seekers. The round table was led by Mr. Maciej Fagasinki, an asylum expert from Poland, who drafted the paper following the assessment mission to Armenia in August.
The event brought together representatives from the State Migration Service, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Urban Planning Committee as well as UNHCR and NGO Mission Armenia. During the round table the participants reviewed the practical design and facilities of the TAC taking into account the necessary care for the asylum seekers, including medical check-ups and treatment of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers. The participants also discussed the necessity to make changes to the existing legislation and regulations related to asylum seekers.
The final paper will incorporate all comments and feedback provided during the roundtable and shared with national authorities.
