On 11 – 12 October, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) organized an experience-sharing visit to the Republic of Moldova for the delegation from Armenia. The visit was organized in the framework of the EU - funded “Support to Migration and Border Management in Armenia” (MIBMA) project, implemented by ICMPD. The aim of the visit was exchange views in implementation of re-admission and visa facilitation agreements; practices related to re-integration of returning migrants; mechanisms toward development of relations with diaspora; and labour/ circular migration schemes.
The Armenian delegation consisted of the representatives from the Armenian state agencies.
The delegation was especially interested in the work of the MFA in the visa system, including changes in the legal basis, visa issuance, and e-visa. Participants discussed topics of migration and development where Moldova currently puts emphasis on migration and local development. At the Bureau for Migration and Asylum, participants received a detailed overview of the structure of the agency on HQ and regional level, legal framework, and work of the Analytical Unit, which has been established in the framework of the ICMPD led project 'Supporting the Republic of Moldova to Implement the EU-Moldova Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation' (FIRMM). Moldovan representatives shared their experience with diaspora business forum and diaspora engagement hubs. The Armenian counterparts shared their work and initiatives with the Armenian diaspora worldwide.
The experience-sharing visit presented an excellent opportunity to exchange views on migration issues among Mobility Partnership countries. The Armenian delegation greatly valued professionalism and flexibility of the Moldovan counterparts to share their extensive experience and willingness to further cooperate in the future.
