from 14 to 16 February 2020 by ICMPD office in Armenia in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia. The event welcomed a mix of 25 graduate and postgraduate students and faculty members from the faculties of economy, law, sociology, history and political science interested in migration and demography.
The participants attended lectures and inter-active workshops held by academics and policy professionals including Biagio Perretti from University of Basilicata, Hrant Mikaelian from Caucasus Institute, Tom Law, Media Development expert, Ruben Yeganyan from Slavonic University and Artak Markosyan from Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. This aim was to contribute to a deeper understand of the role of demography in migration processes by combining insights from economic, statistical, sociological, social, welfare, media and legal approaches to the topic.
The Weekend was also a unique opportunity to network with other participants and have access to high quality lecturers and policy debates. This was the second event organized for students to prepare them for the new didactical offerings and increase interest in migration as a topic and new curricula developed for the international relations, journalism, legal and economic faculty of Yerevan State University (YSU).
